First firing with my new kiln / Primera cocción con el horno nuevo

Hi there!
Today I want to show you the result of the first firing on my new pottery kiln. It arrived (finally!) a couple of days ago, and I was really looking forward for trying it.

I made only one piece, just for testing, and just in case the result would be a completely disaster... at least I only would lose one thing :)

This is the piece I made, inspired on an ancient aegyptian oil lamp:
¡Hola!

The modeling is done completely by hand, and the details are carved with some different tools.
It was fired without glazing, just because despite the original was almost certainly glazed, we really don't know how it really was. So, I prefered to made something like the current state of the relic.
Here you can see the original and the two phases of my piece: modeled but still wet and fired:

Next time I will show you my little workshop and all the tools and machinery that I use.
See you soon!

PREVIOUS WORK / CREACIONES ANTERIORES

From now on I will change my line of work, and that's why I have started this blog, as a mirror for myself in the journey.

Of course, I hope anyone will find interesting what I do and read me. I will make efforts in order to explain what I do, the process, the problems, the solutions, etc... so If you want to give a try to pottery you know what you are facing. If not so, at least this blog will be a public display of my work for anyone interested in my finished pieces. I hope very soon I will have an integrated shop right here, but you can contact me anytime leaving a comment with your mail and I will respond by mail.

Right now I'm waiting my little kiln to arrive. I hope this will be a breakthrough in my creative process, because until now I had to take my pieces to another workshop for firing them. Having my own kiln will allow me to look into some different lines of work, such as the jewelry made of ceramics.

For the time being I have been doing mainly household unique pieces such as plates, bowls, and I have become specialized in teapots, cups and mugs. I will show you the results of my new line of work, but before I want to show you some of my previous creations.
